Upcountry and Haleakala

The slopes of East Maui rise about 10,000 fee to the summit of dormant Haleakala. Reaching into the clouds, the volcano draws moisture to upcountry farms and fog into its crater. Whether you arrive early or late, dress warmly, and enjoy the drive. Between the panoramic views of Central and West Maui, the bright purple Jacaranda trees, and exotic protea farms, it provides a great contrast to the view along the coast. (May and June are especially spectacular.)
